How Does Tapcart Define a Session?
Tapcart defined session duration as 30 seconds of inactivity. A session represents a unique beginning and end of a user entering and interacting in the app. Sessions are currently defined by a period of 30 seconds of inactivity - meaning that if a user is inactive for 30 or more seconds, but returns to the app Tapcart starts a new session.
What Was The Potential Challenge to This Definition?
The challenge with Tapcart’s definition of a session was that it did not provide an accurate depiction of how strong session conversion is in the app compared to the industry standard session definition. Since Tapcart’s definition of time between sessions (30 seconds) causes an inflation in the total # of sessions, we are displaying a deflated session conversion.
What changes should I expect now?
Based on industry standards for session timeout and Tapcart’s effort to reach parity with the market, Tapcart is changing our session timeout to 30 minutes.
