Payment Gateways

Before getting started, please note, Tapcart offers two checkout options; a native checkout and an optimized web checkout. In this article, we’ll discuss the differences between the two and how to set it up for your store.

Native checkout VS Web checkout

Native Checkout

Native checkout is a seamless experience because the entire transaction happens on a single page within the app. This page combines order summary, order submission, card scanner, along with Apple or Google pay depending on the device. Utilizing native checkout decreases the time to complete the checkout process thus increasing conversion.

Supported payment gateways for the native checkout include:

Web Checkout

With web checkout, Tapcart is able to support any third-party payment gateway your store uses. This means that within the checkout process, the customer is transferred to a browser window to complete their purchase. The window will automatically appear within the app and display the checkout page from your online store.

Please note, our international customers often need to use web checkout because we do not support their country's most popular payment gateways in our native checkout feature.

Supported third-party payment methods include Paypal, AmazonPay, Afterpay, Klarna, Sezzle, and more!

Important Note: Native checkout is automatically enabled for all Tapcart merchants, to turn off your native checkout please follow the steps below.

Steps

  1. Navigate to ‘Settings’ under your Tapcart Dashboard
  2. Scroll down to the ‘Cart & Checkout’ section
  3. Turn off the toggle labeled ‘Allow for Native Checkout’
  4. Tap ‘Save’ to update your settings
  5. Notify a Tapcart Team Member to complete additional configuration on the backend

Considerations

Supported third-party payment methods include the following:

Meaning, they display as options in the native checkout but upon selecting that payment method, your customers will automatically be routed to a web checkout.

Important Note: At this time, you can only display one option for customers to use payment installments in the native checkout. If you offer multiple payment installment options, web checkout will give you the ability to show all options during the checkout experience.
