Bottom navigation is one of the most important parts of your app's user experience — it's how your customers move around your app at all times, no matter what screen they're on. A well-configured bottom nav makes it easy for customers to find products, access their cart, sign in, and discover more of your brand.
Setting up Bottom Navigation
Navigate to your Tapcart Dashboard
Hover over App Studio in the top navigation and select App Navigation
At the top of the right rail you'll see two toggles worth knowing about:
Hide Bottom Navigation — turns the bottom nav off entirely if needed
Hide Bottom Navbar on Scroll — hides the nav bar as customers scroll down, giving them more screen space. It reappears when they scroll back up
You'll also see a Show Text toggle under Navigation Items, which controls whether label text appears below each icon across all nav items.
Configuring Your Nav Items
Your Navigation Items are listed below the toggles. You can add, edit, reorder, and delete nav items to suit your store's content and structure.
To add a new nav item, scroll to the bottom of the list and click Add Content. You can have a maximum of five items in your bottom nav — if you exceed this you'll need to remove an existing item before adding a new one.
To edit a nav item, click on it to open its settings. From here you can:
Select an icon from Tapcart's library of over 200 eCommerce icons
Adjust the icon size
Set the destination — choose Screen and then select which screen the tab links to, such as Collections List, a Custom Screen, or any other screen in your app
Update the label title
Toggle Show Text on or off for that specific item
To reorder nav items, drag them up or down using the handle on the left side of each item. The order here reflects the left-to-right order in your app.
To delete a nav item, click the trash icon on the right side of the item.
Language Settings
At the bottom of the right rail you'll find a Language setting. If your store supports multiple languages, you can configure your navigation here for each language. When a customer's device language is set to a supported language, the bottom navigation will automatically display in that language for them.
Publishing Your Changes
Important: Unlike most changes in the Tapcart dashboard, bottom navigation updates do not save as a draft. When you click Save & Publish in the top right corner, your changes go live to your app immediately. Always check how your navigation looks in the live canvas preview before publishing.
Considerations
Bottom navigation is available to all Tapcart customers. You can have a maximum of five nav items at a time.
