Tapcart’s Inbox is a new way to engage your customers directly inside your mobile app. With Inbox, instead of just push notifications, you can send targeted campaigns that live in your app unlocking a brand-new sales and retention channel.

What is the Inbox?

The Inbox is an in-app message center where customers can view all of your store’s notifications in one place. It acts like an email inbox, but inside your mobile app.

  • Customers see past messages they might have missed.

  • Merchants can send Inbox-only campaigns, Push & Inbox campaigns, or continue with Push-only.

  • Campaigns sent to the Inbox appear in a clean, scrollable list that includes your message title, description, image, and date.

Tip: Inbox helps you reach customers who don’t subscribe to push notifications, opening up engagement to your full audience, not just push opt-ins.

How to Create an Inbox Campaign

  1. Go to Engage in your Tapcart Dashboard.

  2. Select Campaign in the right navigation.

  3. Choose your audience:

    • Create or select an existing segment.

  4. Choose your channel:

    • Inbox Message

    • Push Notification

    • Both Push & Inbox

  5. Write your message:

    • Add a title, description, and image.

  6. Schedule or send immediately.

Note: When selecting Inbox Message, your campaign will be sent to all customers in the chosen segment, not just push subscribers

Customer Experience

  • If a customer has push enabled, they will see:

    • Inbox-Only campaigns in their Inbox.

    • Push-Only campaigns as a push.

    • Push + Inbox campaigns in both channels.

  • If a customer does not have push enabled, they will still see:

    • Inbox-Only campaigns in their Inbox.

    • Push + Inbox campaigns in their Inbox.

Adding Inbox to Your App

  • Merchants can enable the Inbox screen in App Studio by publishing it and linking to it via our new Custom Headers

  • You can place the Inbox icon in your app’s navigation (commonly next to the cart).

Why Use Inbox?

  • Higher Engagement: Reach customers who don’t opt into push.

  • Persistent Messaging: Messages stay in the app, so customers can revisit them anytime.

  • New Sales Channel: Use Inbox to promote drops, offers, or content without relying on push notifications.

Pro Tip: Combine Inbox + Push for maximum reach, while using Inbox-only for content you want customers to revisit over time like product launches, gift guides, or seasonal promos.
