How to Setup In-App Reviews

Updated over a week ago

In-App Reviews is a Tapcart feature that automatically prompts customers to rate your app on the Apple App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android) after they complete a purchase.

This is a rating of your app — not a product review. For product reviews, see Which Reviews Provider Should You Use with Tapcart?

Why Does This Matter?

Your app's star rating on the App Store and Google Play affects discoverability and trust. The in-app prompt catches customers at their highest-intent moment — right after a successful purchase.

Default Behavior

In-App Reviews are enabled by default for all Tapcart merchants. No setup is required.

How to Disable In-App Reviews

If you'd prefer not to prompt customers for app ratings:

  1. Open your Tapcart Dashboard.

  2. Navigate to Settings > App Settings > Cart & Checkout.

  3. Locate the In-App Review toggle and turn it off.

  4. Save your settings.

How It Works by Platform

  • iOS: Native Apple App Store rating dialog — the rating appears on your Apple App Store listing

  • Android: Native Google Play rating dialog — the rating appears on your Google Play Store listing

Both platforms display the prompt automatically after a completed purchase. The timing and frequency are managed by Apple and Google — Tapcart triggers the request, but the platforms control how often a given user sees the prompt.

Current Limitations

  • Display frequency is controlled by Apple and Google, not Tapcart. A user who has already rated your app will not be shown the prompt again.

  • This feature collects app store ratings only — not product-level reviews.

  • The prompt text cannot be customized — native dialogs from Apple and Google are used as-is.
