Frequently Asked Questions

Common FAQs for getting started with a Tapcart mobile app, including signup, billing, launch, and customization.

General

What are the requirements to use Tapcart?

Tapcart supports ecommerce merchants with a live store built on Shopify. You must have a paid Shopify plan (not a Shopify trial) to connect to Tapcart. To launch in the App Store and Google Play, your business must be a recognized legal entity (Corporation, LLC, or Limited Partnership, or the equivalent in your country).

Does the app sync with my Shopify store?

Yes. Products, collections, inventory, pricing, images, and discount codes come from Shopify. Changes typically show in the app within minutes. A product or collection must be published to the Tapcart sales channel to appear. See Adding Products & Collections to Tapcart.

How do I sign up?

The fastest way is the Shopify App Store. Click Add app and connect your store. You will get access to the Tapcart dashboard to design and preview your app. tapcart.com is for requesting demos with our Brand Experience team.

How do teammates log in?

Tapcart access uses each person's Shopify account, with the Tapcart sales channel enabled. There is no separate Tapcart password. See Setting Up Your Tapcart Profile and Managing Your Team in Tapcart.

Pricing & Billing

How much does Tapcart cost?

Tapcart is a monthly subscription. Pricing varies by plan. See the pricing page for current plans.

Depending on your account, Tapcart may bill through Chargebee or on your Shopify invoice. Details and payment-method steps are in Account & Billing Overview.

Apple charges a $99 annual fee for the Developer Program. Google charges a one-time $25 fee for a Play Console developer account. Those fees are paid to Apple and Google, not to Tapcart.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. A free trial lets you design and preview your app in the dashboard. If you select a plan during the trial and authorize billing, you are opting into the monthly subscription.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. Cancel from Settings → Account & Billing in your Tapcart dashboard. See Account & Billing Overview for the full steps, including what happens to your live apps after you cancel.

App Features

Can customers check out directly in the app?

Yes. Customers complete checkout in the app using your Shopify checkout and the payment methods you already offer on your store.

Does the app support push notifications?

Yes. You can send push notifications from the Tapcart dashboard (Engage). You can also connect providers such as Klaviyo or Attentive for automated campaigns. See Getting Started with Push Notifications.

Can I customize the look and feel of the app?

Yes. App Studio is the no-code editor for screens, design blocks, Brand Kit (colors, fonts, and icons), and navigation. For brand-specific layouts or integrations that are not in the native library, use Custom Blocks (creating and editing block code is available on Enterprise). To pull an existing web page into the app, use a web-based custom screen.

Does Tapcart support returns and exchanges?

Yes. You can embed your returns experience in the app, commonly with Loop or Narvar, using a web-based custom screen or a custom block. Check Integrations in your dashboard for what is available on your plan.

Does Tapcart support multi-currency?

Yes, when your store uses Shopify Payments and you enable it in Tapcart. See Setting up Multi-Currency.

Developer Accounts & Launch

Do I need both an Apple and Google developer account?

Most merchants launch on both iOS and Android. Each platform needs its own developer account:

How long does it take to launch?

From sign-up to a live app is typically 1 to 3 weeks. The longest waits are usually D-U-N-S processing and Apple Developer enrollment, not store review. After Tapcart submits your build, Apple review is often 24 to 48 hours, and Google Play is often 1 to 3 days. For the full roadmap, see App Launch Overview.

Can I migrate my existing app to Tapcart?

Yes. Tapcart can submit an update over your existing iOS and Android listings so ratings, reviews, and the download link stay in place. See Migrating Your Existing App to Tapcart.

Can Canadian (or other international) businesses use Tapcart?

Yes. Tapcart works with merchants worldwide. International businesses can request a D-U-N-S Number for Apple Developer enrollment. Dun & Bradstreet operates in over 200 countries. Google Play enrollment is available globally, though identity verification requirements can add time.

Integrations

What integrations does Tapcart support?

Tapcart connects to many Shopify-ecosystem tools, including loyalty (Smile.io, LoyaltyLion, Yotpo), reviews (Yotpo, Okendo, Judge.me), analytics (Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, AppsFlyer), and email or SMS (Klaviyo, Attentive). Open Integrations in your Tapcart dashboard for the full list on your plan. Native integrations are available on all plans. Custom code integrations through Custom Blocks are an Enterprise capability.

Can I add custom functionality?

Yes. Use a custom screen to embed a web experience (loyalty, subscriptions, returns, and similar). For in-app UI that is not a Design Block, use Custom Blocks (code editing on Enterprise; the Tapcart CLI is the local workflow for developers). To pull aggregated app metrics into your own reports, see Using the Insights API.
