Facebook SDK + Tapcart: Part 1 + 2

The Facebook Ads SDK allows merchants to understand campaign attribution from Facebook ads that drive traffic to the app. The integration tracks a variety of events tied to the conversion funnel in order to help Facebook optimize spend and drive on key marketing goals.

The SDK tracks purchase conversion rate, retention, revenue, and average order values as well as the following events listed below.

  • Add Payment Info

  • Add to Cart

  • App Installs

  • App Launches

  • Content View

  • Initiated Checkout

  • New User Activity

  • Purchases

  • Session End

  • User Activity

Connecting Facebook SDK + Tapcart

The integration is available to all Tapcart customers who have a Facebook Developer Account. If you don’t have a developer account with Facebook you can easily create one here. Please note, your iOS and Android apps will need to be published to complete the integration setup.

Facebook SDK is a requirement from Facebook for advertising any app. This means you will need to enable both iOS and Android to be able to advertise both. Tapcart already includes the Facebook SDK in your app. You only need to create a Meta app, then add the App ID and Client token in Tapcart. Do not follow Meta’s steps to install the SDK in your own code.

Step 1: Adding your Facebook Ad ID to your Tapcart Dashboard

  1. Visit https://developers.facebook.com/apps/ and log in with your Facebook account.

  2. Select Get Started or My Apps

  3. If this is the first time setting up a Facebook SDK account, you will need to select Developer from the options below and Complete Registration

  4. On the next screen, please select Create App

  5. Enter the App Display Name and update the contact email address if needed, then continue.

  6. On the Use cases step, select Create an app without a use case. This is the option Tapcart needs. It gives you an App ID without extra Meta products or permissions.

    • Do not select Facebook Login, Marketing API, Audience Network, WhatsApp, Instagram, or Catalogue use cases. Tapcart’s SDK integration does not use those.

    • If you do not see Create an app without a use case, scroll down and select Other. Then select Consumer. Do not select Business.

  7. When asked to connect a business portfolio, we recommend connecting your Facebook Business Manager account (even if it is tied to a personal Facebook account). This allows Facebook to verify the business. You can skip this step and add it later if needed.

  8. Finish creating the app. This will automatically generate an App ID.

  9. Copy the App ID, found under your app name

Step 2: Adding your Facebook Ad and Business IDs to your Facebook Apps Account

Now to start running ads, we’ll need to connect your Facebook App to your Facebook Ad and Facebook Business accounts.

  1. Open your Facebook Ad Account and select your name in the top left to find your Ad Account ID

  2. Copy your Ad Account ID and go back to Facebook Developers

  3. From here navigate to Settings and select Advanced

  4. Scroll down to the Advertising Accounts section and input your Ad Account ID into the Authorized Ad Account IDs field

  5. As an option you can add your Facebook Business Account ID to Authorized Businesses but this is not mandatory. It’s helpful to have a Facebook Business account if there are multiple coworkers who need to manage your Facebook ads

  6. Once you're done, select Save changes

  7. Once completed and apps are live, move to Part 3 to configure the Facebook SDK
