AppsFlyer + Tapcart: Creating Your Template ID

To configure AppsFlyer within your Tapcart dashboard, you will need to first add your Template ID. In this article, we will walk you through the steps on how to create your Template ID within the AppsFlyer dashboard.

Steps

  1. Navigate to the Engage section on the left menu and choose ‘OneLink Management’
  2. If you don’t have a template, it will prompt you to create a new one.
  3. Otherwise, select ‘Add OneLink Template’ in the 3 dot menu in the upper right of the OneLink screen
  4. Add a name for the Template (ex. Tapcart Apps)
  5. Select the iOS and Android app that was previously added
  6. Enter a subdomain (ideally this will match your website domain so anyone viewing the link knows it’s legitimate).
  7. Scroll down to ‘Redirection’ to set the iOS and Android redirection when app isn’t installed
    • The default and recommended option is to open the corresponding app store to prompt the user to download the app.
    • It can also be changed to a custom Web URL.
  8. Continue to the next section for ‘When app is installed’ and click on ‘Use Universal Links to launch the app’ in the iOS section
  9. Select ‘Launch the app using iOS Universal Links’
  10. A popup will appear where you can enter your Team ID
  11. Select ‘Save’ and you are all set for iOS
  12. Then select the 'Use App Links to launch the app' option for Android
  13. Choose ‘Launch the app using Android App Links’
  14. You will need to enter the SHA-256 fingerprint. To grab this value, navigate back to your Google Play Console
    • Select the app
    • Click ‘Setup’ and choose ‘App Signing’
    • Scroll down to ‘Digital Asset Links JSON’
    • Copy the text under ‘sha256_cert_fingerprints’ as shown in the image below
    • Go back into AppsFlyer and paste this value into the respective field
  15. Select ‘Save’ and you are all set for Android
  16. Next, you will want to create your fallback
  17. Navigate to ‘URI scheme fallback’ and click on ‘Use URI scheme to launch the app’
  18. Another modal will pop up, where you will want to select ‘Launch the app using URI scheme’
  19. Enter the subdomain that you previously set followed by ://mainactivity (no spaces)
    • Ex. tapcart://mainactivity
  20. Select ‘Save’
  21. Under the Desktop section, you can choose to direct users that access the links from a desktop computer to the corresponding app store for their OS or a Desktop web URL.
    • If you want those users to land on your website, you can enter the homepage URL or another custom page within the website.
  22. Choose Create template when all settings are complete.
  23. Now you can get the ‘Template ID’ to connect the integration in Tapcart
  24. Copy the ‘Template ID’ and send the subdomain you set up to your Account Manager or help@tapcart.co to finish connecting the integration.
    • Important Note: The ‘Template ID’ is case sensitive, to prevent any issues in the configuration please copy it exactly as it is shown within your AppsFlyer dashboard.
