Google Play Console 2025 Requirements

In July 2023, Google announced new verification requirements for anyone creating new Play Console developer accounts—to boost trust and transparency on Google Play, and to ensure that developers comply with the updated Play Console requirements policy.

They have now rolled out these verification requirements to all existing Google Play developers who created their Play Console account before these changes were announced. This article contains guidance on what you'll need to do.

1. How you'll verify your developer account in Play Console

You'll be required to provide certain information which helps Google to verify your identity.

  • Legal name (shown on Google Play)

  • Legal address (shown on Google Play)

  • Contact email address (verified using one-time password)

  • Preferred locale for email communications

  • Contact phone number (verified using one-time password)

  • Developer email address (verified using one-time password and shown on Google Play)

  • Developer phone number (verified using one-time password and shown on Google Play)

Additional information for organizations:

  • Organization type

    • Company/business

    • Non-profit

    • Academic institution

    • Government

  • Organization size

    • 1-10

    • 11-50

    • 51-100

    • 101-1000

    • Over 1k employees

  • Organization phone number

  • Organization website

4. Steps to verify your account

Learn more about the verification requirements that were introduced for organizational developer accounts. You will be expected to provide your developer account information, and should prepare to submit the following details:

  • Legal name and address

  • D-U-N-S number, if registering as an organization

  • Contact email address and phone number

  • Developer email address and phone number shown on Google Play where applicable

  • Payment methods where applicable

  • Google payment profile linked to your developer account

  • Upload your app’s privacy policy and fill out your Data safety section requirements

  • Provide an active demo account, login information, and all other resources needed for Google Play to review your app (specifically, login credentials, QR code, etc.)
