Using Drafts for Campaign Planning

Updated over a week ago

Drafts allow you to pre-plan your marketing campaigns and make batch changes to your app prior to publication instead of immediately publishing them live. This means you can try new features, update settings, and more before releasing the final version to your customers.

States of Screens

There are now four different possible states for a given screen's layout:

  1. Live: This is the layout that customers currently see.

  2. Draft: This is an unpublished, unscheduled layout that has changes from the live layout.

  3. Scheduled: This is a layout that is scheduled to be published at a later date. Only Ultimate & Enterprise customers can schedule layouts. See here for more details.

  4. Archived: This is a previously published layout that is no longer live. You can find this in the History tab on every screen.

Creating a Draft

To create a draft, go to the screen you’d like to change. In this example, we’ll use the Product Listing Page (PLP). Once there, make a change to the live layout such as adding a block as shown below:

A new draft is automatically created. By default, the title of the draft will be “{Prior Name} (Copy)”. You can edit this name at any time by clicking on the title. We recommend using a descriptive, unique name for each of your drafts so it is easier to recall the changes made.

Saving a Draft

As you make changes, the draft is automatically saved. If you navigate to a different page or draft, you will be asked if you want to keep the current layout as a draft or publish.

In order to later return to the draft, you should:

  1. Click on the “v” next to the title.

  2. Find the correct draft and click on it.

  3. Then exit out of the Versions List by clicking outside of it.

Publishing a Draft

In order to publish a draft, click on the “Publish” button in the far right.

Deleting a Draft

If you’d like to delete a draft:

  1. Click on the “v” next to the title.

  2. Find the correct draft and click on the “...” menu.

  3. In the dropdown, select Archive.

Once you archive the draft, it will not be recoverable so be careful when taking this action.

Scheduling a Draft

To schedule a draft:

  1. Click on the “v” next to the title.

  2. Find the correct draft and click on the “...” menu.

  3. In the dropdown, select Schedule.

  4. Choose the date, time, and timezone for publication.

  5. Click Schedule

As noted before, this is only available to Ultimate and Enterprise plan customers. Please see here for more details.

Considerations

  • Brand Kit and Navigation updates are not able to be scheduled presently

  • Only screens which offer scheduling can be schedule, if you don't see this option offered it's likely coming soon.
