Keeping Your Apple Developer Account Up-To-Date

Maintaining an active and current Apple Developer account is critical. If your account lapses or required agreements aren't signed, Tapcart will be unable to submit new builds or updates to your app and Apple may even remove your app from the App Store.

In this article:

  • How to accept the Program License Agreement (PLA)

  • How to update Agreements, Tax, and Banking

  • How to renew your Apple Developer membership

  • How to update age ratings

  • Quarterly maintenance checklist

Accepting the Program License Agreement (PLA)

Apple periodically releases updated PLAs that you must accept to continue using their developer tools. If you don't accept the PLA, Tapcart cannot submit any app updates for you. This is one of the most common reasons app updates get blocked.

How to check and accept:

  1. If a PLA update is pending, you'll see a red banner at the top of the page that says "Review Agreement"

  2. Click Review Agreement

  3. Read the updated terms, check the box, and select I Agree

Important: Only the Account Holder (owner) can accept the PLA. If you're a team member, contact your Account Holder to complete this step.

Agreements, Tax, and Banking in App Store Connect

In addition to the PLA, App Store Connect has a Business section that must be kept current. Incomplete information here can also block app submissions and payments.

  1. Navigate to Business (previously called "Agreements, Tax, and Banking")

  2. Check the status indicators:

    • Green: All information is complete, no action needed

    • Yellow: Some information is missing or needs updating

    • Red: Critical information is missing, action required immediately

  3. If you see Free/Paid App Agreements that need to be accepted, click through and accept them

Note: Apple has recently restructured this section under Business in App Store Connect. If you don't see "Agreements, Tax, and Banking" as a menu item, look for Business instead.

Updating Age Ratings

Apple periodically requires apps to update their age rating questionnaire. If this is not completed, app updates will be rejected.

  1. In App Store Connect, go to My Apps → [Your App] → App Information

  2. Scroll to the Age Rating section

  3. Click Edit and answer the questionnaire

  4. For a typical Tapcart ecommerce app, a 4+ or 12+ rating is standard

  5. Save your changes

If you encounter an error when accessing the age rating section, contact our Support Team as we can update it from our end in most cases.

Renewing Your Apple Developer Membership

Your Apple Developer account requires a $99 annual renewal. If it expires:

  • Your apps will be removed from the App Store

  • Tapcart will be unable to submit any updates

  • Push notification certificates may stop working

To renew:

  1. Go to Membership in the left sidebar

  2. If your membership is near expiration, you'll see a renewal option

  3. Complete the payment

Tip: Set your membership to auto-renew to avoid accidental expiration. You can enable this in your Apple ID payment settings.

Quarterly Maintenance Checklist

We recommend checking these items every quarter to keep your account healthy:

☐ PLA accepted (check for red banner at developer.apple.com/account)

☐ Agreements, Tax, and Banking all green in App Store Connect

☐ Apple Developer membership is active and set to auto-renew

☐ Age rating questionnaire is up to date

☐ Contact information on the account is current
