Sign In & Create Account Pages

A guide to customizing the Sign In and Create Account screen in your Tapcart app, including layout options and enabling New Customer Accounts for passwordless login.

Updated this week

The Sign In and Create Account screen is where customers authenticate with your app. It's a single screen with two states — Sign In and Create Account — that customers toggle between. This guide covers how to access and customize it and how to enable Shopify's New Customer Accounts for a passwordless login experience.

Accessing the Sign In & Create Account Screen

  1. Hover over App Studio in the top navigation and select Screens

  2. Click the screen dropdown and select Sign In / Create Account

The screen has two layout toggles in the right rail — one for the Sign In state and one for the Create Account state. Use these to switch between the two views and customize each one independently.

Customizing the Layout

Both the Sign In and Create Account states support the same customization options. For each state you can:

  • Upload a hero banner image to display at the top of the screen

  • Add or remove blocks to build the layout

  • Adjust colors and typography using your Brand Kit settings

Changes to this screen are saved as a draft and won't go live until you publish them.

Presentation Style & Settings

Like all screens in Tapcart, the Sign In screen has settings that control how it appears and behaves — including the presentation style (Pop-In, Fullscreen, or Drawer), screen transition animation, snap points, and a toggle to require users to be logged in. These are available under the Settings tab in the right rail.

For a full breakdown of each option, see Screen Settings: Presentation Style, Transitions & Snap Points.

New Customer Accounts (Passwordless Login)

Shopify's New Customer Accounts replaces the traditional email and password login with a passwordless experience. Instead of a password, customers receive a one-time 6-digit verification code via email each time they sign in. This removes friction from the login flow and is Shopify's recommended account system for new stores.

When New Customer Accounts is enabled, the sign-in experience is handled entirely by Shopify's native flow. The Presentation Style settings described above do not apply.

Important: Before enabling New Customer Accounts in Tapcart, you must first activate it on your Shopify store. The sequence matters — enabling it in Tapcart without activating it in Shopify first will cause errors.

  1. In your Shopify admin, go to Settings → Customer Accounts

  2. Switch to New Customer Accounts

  3. Once activated in Shopify, follow the setup steps in Tapcart. See Setting up Shopify New Customer Accounts for the full guide
